Dear Fraser Road United Church family,
We do have much to celebrate this year, as our church building turns 60 years old. The Sixtieth Anniversary is traditionally the diamond anniversary – the word diamond comes from the Greek word – adamas which means unconquerable and enduring. And many also believe that the fire in the diamond symbolizes the flame of love.
Fraser Road United has been an enduring presence in our town, and a place where love is expressed – through faithful praise and worship to God. It is a place that has borne witness to the milestones of many peoples’ lives through baptism, weddings and funerals; a place where faith has been nurtured in Sunday School and youth group; and a place where partnerships with individuals and groups in the community such as with Scouts Canada and Alcoholics Anonymous have formed and flourished.
To help show our deep gratitude for this place and for that it means in the lives of so many, we are asking for a one time offering of $60.00 to celebrate the 60 years of our church. This offering would be above your regular offering. This money would be used to help us to continue to be a strong presence in our community. Enclosed you will find, a special envelope marked 60 for 60. We ask that your donation envelope be returned by Thanksgiving Sunday, October 7th. You may also donate online using CanadaHelps, our trusted method for charitable donations.
Please stay tuned during the coming months as we will be celebrating and remembering our rich heritage in a number of ways.
Blessings to you all,
Rev. Kathy and Church Council
