*Introit: "Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying" VU400

Lord, listen to your children praying,

Lord, send your Spirit in this place;

Lord, listen to your children praying,

send us love, send us power, send us grace!

Passing The Peace Of Christ

The peace of Christ be with you…

And also with you.

*Call to Worship

We come with thankfulness to this place:

where children and seasoned seniors can sit side by side, where heaven and earth embrace in communion, where God has been, where God is, and where God will always be.

We come to this place:

where we can see God's steadfast love, where we can hear the tender voice of Jesus, where we can sing our thankful songs.

We come to gather around this table, Christ's table:

where we can bring our hunger and be fed, where we can bring our emptiness and be filled, where we can bring ourselves and be loved.

Let us pray together:

We walk in faith toward you, God of love, struggling to keep in step with you, trying not to budge from the path you tenderly pave before us. We walk in faith after you, Jesus of Self-giving, as little children in need of a lap and cuddle, as teens in need of a friend and a chat, as adults yearning for meaning in life. We walk in faith with you, Spirit of Challenge, turning our backs on our past to dance to the table where we join hands with all of your children, here and in every place alive in you. We come united by your grace. Amen

*Offertory Verse: "Grant us God…."VU540

Grant us, God, the grace of giving,

with a spirit large and free,

that ourselves and all our living

we may offer faithfully.

*Offertory Prayer

O God, may these gifts be used as Jesus would have used them:

To speak out for justice in our neighborhood,

to encourage compassion among those who are distressed,

to foster friendship within our faith community,

to give thanks and praise to you Loving God,

for all your graceful gifts.

We will be blessed as this money goes to work. Amen

The Sacrament of Holy Communion

The Great Thanksgiving Prayer

(Written by Gord Dunbar, Gathering, Summer/Autumn 2005, page 45, used with permission)

May God be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to God.

Let us give thanks to God.

It is right we give God our thanks and our praise.

We yearn for new . . . life of wholeness and of integrity.

ALL (SING): "O For A World" - VU 697 vs.1

Once we were given . . . of embrace for the stranger.

ALL (SING): VU697 vs. 2

We didn't listen . . . Jesus who lived a different life.

ALL (SING): VU697 vs.4

Jesus brought us to . . . God's reign shown to us at the table:

he shared food with followers and friends,

with saints and sinners,

with crowds of thousands on the hillside,

and a few friends in an upper room.

On the night before he died, he had supper with his companions.

He took a loaf of . . . and gave it to them saying:

"Take, eat. Do this in remembrance of me."

Then he took a cup . . . passed it among them saying:

"Drink this. Do this in remembrance of me."

Through this loaf and cup, Jesus lives within us.

In word and deed, Jesus lives among us.

We come . . . communion for Christians the world over.

ALL (SING) VU697 vs.3

God of loving . . . to do your will in Jesus' name. Amen

ALL (SING) VU697 vs5

Remembering the Community

At this time . . . life we share…for our families and friends…

The Lord's Prayer

Let us share together the prayer of Jesus…

Breaking the Bread

The body of Christ, the bread of life, broken for you.

Thanks be to God for the bread of life.

Filling the Cup

The cup of blessing poured out for you.

Thanks be to God for the cup of blessing.

Invitation

Sharing the Bread and the Cup

Prayer after Communion (unison)

For the bread that we have eaten,

for the wine we have tasted,

for the life we have received,

we thank you God.

Grant that what we have done and have given here,

may so put its mark on us,

that it may remain always in our hearts.

Grant that we may grow

in Christian understanding,

and that ours may be lives of faithful action,

in Christ's name. Amen.

*Closing Hymn: "Sent Forth By God's Blessing" VU481

*Commissioning

Love with a love that defies fear.

We will love with a love that will not give in.

Love with a love that seeks the best.

We will love with a love that will not see the worst.

Love with a love that finds joy in community.

We will love with a love that makes friends.

Love with a love that crosses boundaries.

We will love with a love that confronts evil, wherever it is found.

*Benediction

*Postlude
