At the call of Jesus Christ, we, the people

Prepare and direct our people into God's world for service.
* Please stand as you are able.
We Gather to Praise God
Musical Prelude
Greeting
Congregational Life and Work
*Introit: "Come In, Come In and Sit Down" (VU395, Refrain)
Come in, come in and sit down,
you are a part of the family.
We are lost and we are found,
and we are a part of the family.
*Call To Worship (Responsive)
We gather to worship:
a sign that we are faithful to God.
We greet each other with "The Peace":
a sign that we trust and support each other in the faith community.
*Passing the Peace of Christ
We listen for God's word to us:
a sign that God, who has spoken in times past, still
speaks to us, the people of God.
We resolve to serve the living God:
a sign that our faith has meaning and purpose for good,
meaning and purpose for ourselves, and meaning and
purpose for those in our community who have practical
and spiritual needs.*Opening Prayer (Responsive)
At the dawn of a new day, you are with us, O God,
filling us with hope, giving us a clear vision of the way to be taken.
In the heat of the day, you are with us, O God,
strengthening us in the struggle and encouraging us
when the way ahead is rough and testing.
In the cool of the evening, you are with us, O God,
calling us to thanksgiving, enabling us to reflect on our
experiences along the way.
In this service, you are with us, O God,
calling us to follow Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and
the life. Amen.
*Opening Hymn: "We Are One" VU402
Prayer of Faith And Confession
In the name of Jesus Christ, we have created community in this place.
Forgive us, God, when we sometimes lack vision or
enthusiasm.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we have made the cross a symbol
of healing.
Forgive us, God, when we ignore the crying needs of
those we don't know, those whose distress does not
touch us.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we have proclaimed that the truth
will make us free.
Forgive us, God, when we close our minds to new ways
of thinking, fresh sources of inspiration.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we believe that forgiveness may be received.
Forgive us, God, when we will not let our guilt go, when
we claim your love cannot reach us.
Time of reflection…
Words of Assurance
This is not a perfect world. Good and evil do reside side by
side.
Each and every time we face the wrongs and name them,
in ourselves, in our homes, and in our communities, God
hears us and works with us to create a better, more
loving world.
So it is that in an act of confession and in the acceptance of
God's healing grace, we are empowered to act in the world.
Thanks be to God!
Acclamation: Halle, Halle, Halle....

*Doxology "Grant Us God, the Grace" VU540
Grant us, God, the grace of giving,
with a spirit large and free,
that ourselves and all our living
we may offer faithfully.
Offertory Prayer
It is through your goodness, most graceful God, that we have
become a gifted people.
Open us to the joy of sharing our gifts with others so that with money offered, time usefully spent, and our natural talents generously used, your work may be done and your name glorified. Amen.
Prayers of the People and the Lord's Prayer
*Hymn: "Go To The World" VU420
*Commissioning
On the road that led to the cross, God stayed with Jesus, and,
in our testing times, God will stay with us too.
The source of hope, when we are discouraged;
the source of community, when we are on our own;
the source of faith, when doubt overpowers us;
the source of inspiration, when life is colorless and drab;
the source of eternity, when the weight of years bears down on us;
the source of peace, when uncertainty is all around us…
God will not leave you on your own!
Praise be to God!
*Benediction
*Musical Postlude
Today in Prayer - As our busy fall season begins, we
pray for your guidance in all we think, say and do.
STEWARDSHIP SECONDS - A Thank You
A thank you has been received for Fraser Road Congregation from St. Joseph's Church, who receive the stamps and eyeglasses that our Outreach Committee collects, and forwards them on. The glasses are sent to Montreal, PQ where opticians clean and size them. They are then sent to countries as needed, where they are distributed by the Doctors Without Borders Program. The stamps are collected in from all across Canada, and are auctioned. Up to $2000 was raised from a recent auction. This money is forwarded through World Development and Peace to help the poor.
