Ode to Newfoundland
When sunrays crown thy pine clad hills
And summer spreads her hand
When silvern voices tune thy rills
We love thee smiling land.
We love thee, we love thee
We love thee smiling land.
As loved our fathers so we love
Where once they stood we stand
Their prayer we raise to heaven above
God guard thee Newfoundland.
God guard thee, God guard thee
God guard thee Newfoundland.

Communion Reflection and Invitation Adapted from Sabbath by Wayne Muller
Service of the Table
Child: What does Communion mean?
Communion means to be "together with".
Child: And who are we with in Communion?
We are with God and with each other.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.
Child: Why do we give thanks and praise at this table?
We give thanks because God is always with us.
Loving God . . . together we give you praise.
O, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord,
O God of power and might,
all earth and heaven and sky above
sing "Glory be to God!"
Hosanna in the highest Heav'n!
Creation sing your praise!
Blessed is the One who comes from God!
Hosanna and amen!
Child: Why do we eat bread at this table?
Why do we drink from the cup at this table?
We eat bread and drink from the cup because Jesus asked us to remember him in this way. We do it because God uses everyday experiences to remind us of the love God has for us. We remember God's love especially at this table with these people, but also whenever we eat a meal with family and friends.
As we gather . . . remember me."
Child: What do we remember at this table?
We remember Jesus' love for us.
We remember that God is made known to us in Jesus Christ.
We remember Jesus' death for our sins.
We celebrate that Jesus rose again and continues to be our friend today. And we remember that Jesus said he would come back again one day.
God, remembering . . . the mystery of our faith:
O, Christ has died! (sung)
And Christ is ris~en!
Christ will come again!
Child: Why do we pray for the bread and the cup?
We pray so that God will bless them and us before we eat like saying grace before a meal.
We pray to you . . . to all the world.
Child: For whom do we pray at this table?
We pray for God's world.
Prayers of Intercession
The Lord's Prayer
Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen!
Hosanna and Amen!
Breaking of the Bread and Filling of the Cup
Prayer After Communion (in unison)
Because the broken bread has meant our healing, because the outpoured cup has meant our life, because our common sharing has meant the communion of our souls, and because we have here been graced by your presence, God, we give you thanks and pray that our lives may be renewed in the life and the love of Jesus Christ. Amen.
*Closing Hymn - Here, O My Lord, VU #459 (vs. 4 & 5)
*Commissioning and Benediction
*Retrieve Colours - National Anthem
* God Save The Queen
God save our gracious Queen,
long live our noble Queen:
God save the Queen.
Send her victourious,
happy and glorious,
long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.
