A NEW CREED
We are not alone, we live in God's world.
We live in this world with our brothers and sisters from British Columbia to Bermuda and from Alberta to Zambia.
We believe in God:
We believe God wants us to do something in and for the world today.
who has created and is creating,
But when something like a tsunami happens in creation, the United Church is already there through its global partners. We are able to provide aid quickly through established routes.
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
We are at theological centres, schools, and programs such as the one at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec.
to reconcile and make new,
With the help of 29 overseas personnel.
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
Moving through chaplains in hospitals, nursing homes, universities, and communities.
We trust in God. We are called to be the Church:
Offering congregational support to churches in remote areas.
to celebrate God's presence,
Providing resources for worship services and Bible studies, for Spirit Connection and The Observer.
to live with respect in Creation,
Setting up agricultural programs and safe drinking water programs in developing countries around the world and supporting the work of KAIROS.
to love and serve others,
In our communities through the support of food banks, shelters, missions, breakfast clubs, co-op laundries, and drop-in centres.
to seek justice and resist evil,
Providing refugee aid for newcomers to Canada and working for the rights of women and children in developing countries.
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.
And with our brothers and sisters around the corner and around the world.
We are not alone. Thanks be to God.
For giving us the ability to help one another through our gifts to the Mission and Service Fund.
