CONGREGATIONAL LIFE AND WORK

INTROIT: They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,

we are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,

and we pray that all unity will one day be restored.

Refrain:

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,

And they'll know we are Christians by our love.

*CALL TO WORSHIP (responsively):

A new day, a new week is upon us.

We dedicate it to God.

A new hour of worship is upon us.

We dedicate it to God.

A new opportunity is here:

to become new people in Christ.

We dedicate ourselves to God.

Come, now is the time to worship. With hearts and minds, bodies and spirits, let us give our best to God.

All honour, glory, and praise be to God!

*OPENING PRAYER

*HYMN: Come, Let Us Sing Of A Wonderful Love #574

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison):

Gentle God, who in Jesus Christ

showed us humility and compassion,

we thank you for your gracious love.

Forgive our sin of pride and apathy,

empower us to struggle for justice,

for the sake of the most oppressed

and totally broken in body and spirit.

Compassionate Jesus,

teach us to be true disciples

in our times

in all places today.

Enable us to change attitudes and structures that enslave.

Divine Wisdom, Holy Spirit,

in your grace, transform the world

in us, through us.

Cleanse our hearts, and renew our spirits.

With serving hands and liberating actions,

we humbly pray for courage and inspiration

to do your will, beginning today.

In Jesus' name, we hope and pray. Amen.
