CONGREGATIONAL LIFE AND WORK
*INTROIT: Come In, Come In and Sit Down (VU #395)
Come in, come in and sit down,
you are a part of the family.
We are lost and we are found,
and we are a part of the family.
*CALL TO WORSHIP
Don't conform -transform!
We offer ourselves to God.
Be transformed by the renewing of your minds.
Forget what the world had taught you, and learn instead what is good, acceptable, and perfect.
Be humble about yourselves,
but think highly of others.
Don't try to be like everyone else.
Find the gift God has given you, and use it.
We are the One Body of Christ,
but there are many members, each with gifts -gifts that can transform the world!
Don't conform-transform!
We offer ourselves to God.
OPENING PRAYER (in unison):
Holy God - in this precious hour, we pause and gather to hear your word - to do so, we break from our work responsibilities and from our play fantasies; we move from our fears that overwhelm and from our ambitions that are too strong. Free us in these moments from every distraction, that we may focus to listen, that we may hear, that we may change. Amen.

SERVICE OF THE WORD
* FIRST READING: Exodus 14: 19-31 The Message
God parts the sea for the Hebrews.
RESPONSIVE READING: Exodus 15:1b-11, 20-21 (VU p. 876)
Miriam and Moses sing the "Song of the Sea."
REFRAIN: For you, my God, my strength and song, have now become my victory.
I will sing to God, who has triumphed gloriously.
Horse and rider are thrown into the sea.
God is my strength, my song, my salvation.
This is my God, whom I will praise,
our parents' God, whom I will exalt.
God is a warrior: Eternal is God's name. R
Who is like you, O God, among the gods? Who is like you,
majestic in holiness, awesome in splendour,
wonderful in action?
With constant love you led the people you redeemed.
You guide them by your strength to your holy dwelling.
You bring them in and plant them
on the mountain of your inheritance,
the place you made your dwelling,
the sanctuary your hands have established. R
After this prayer of praise and thanksgiving, Miriam took a tambourine in her hand.
Women: and all the women followed her with tambourines and dancing.
Miriam sang ""Sing to the Lord for God is highly exalted.
All: The horse and rider were hurled into the sea!
Men: Sing to the Lord who is highly exalted! R

REFLECTION - Celebrating Ministry
There are different gifts,
but it is the same Spirit who gives them.
There are different ways of serving,
but it is the same God who is served.
God works through different people in different ways,
but it is the same God who achieves holy purposes through them all.
The Spirit gives each one gifts, to use for the common good.
children and youth
We are thankful our church/church school is here.
We are happy to be with others,
and to learn and grow in our faith.
Teachers, helpers and committee members, you have heard God's call. . . . studying the scriptures and teachings of our faith?
Yes, we will.
We have recognized a need in this congregation,
and feel called by God to respond.
We will teach ---- trusting in the Spirit and in God's promises
to support and guide us;
cherishing the faith and spiritual well-being
of our students,
relying upon this congregation
to uphold us in this ministry.
to students and participants
Students of all ages . . .
a place where all can learn and grow?
Yes, we will.
Congregation
We remember today promises made at baptism
to support one another as we grow in faith.
We want to honour and fulfill these promises.
We promise to encourage each other,
to support our church/church school,
and to join in the journey of faith.
We are called to pray, to learn and to play and to work.
We will share with each other our experiences and insights.

SERVICE OF THE TABLE
* COMMUNION HYMN: All Who Hunger #460
Child: What does Communion mean?
Congregation: Communion means to be "together with".
Child: And who are we with in Communion?
Congregation: We are with God and with each other.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to God.
Let us give thanks to God.
It is right to give God thanks and praise.
Child: Why do we give thanks and praise at this table?
Congregation:
We give thanks because God is always with us, always loving us and always giving each of us gifts to share with the world.
THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
We thank you, God, Creator of us all . . .
we join the angels in their praise:
O, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, (sung)
O God of power and might,
all earth and heaven and sky above
sing "Glory be to God!"
Hosanna in the highest Heav'n!
Creation sing your praise!
Blessed is the One who comes from God!
Hosanna and amen!
Child: Why do we eat bread at this table?
Child: Why do we drink from the cup at this table?
Congregation:
We eat bread and drink from the cup because Jesus asked us to remember him in this way. We do it because God uses everyday experiences to remind us of the love God has for us. We remember God's love especially at this table with these people, but also whenever we eat a meal with family and friends.
As we gather at this table . . . ,
Whenever you drink it, remember me."
Child: What do we remember at this table?
Congregation:
We remember Jesus' love for us.
We remember that God is made known to us in Jesus Christ.
We remember Jesus' death for our sins.
We celebrate that Jesus rose again and continues to be our friend today. And we remember that Jesus said he would come back again one day.
God, remembering your boundless love for us in Jesus Christ,
We offer you praise, as we proclaim the mystery of our faith:
O, Christ has died! (sung)
And Christ is ris~en!
Christ will come again!
Child: Why do we pray for the bread and the cup?
Congregation:
We pray so that God will bless them and us before we eat like saying grace before a meal.
We pray to you . . . and to all the world.
Child: For whom do we pray at this table?
Congregation: We pray for God's world.
And today we pray especially for . . .
The Lord's Prayer
Breaking of the Bread and Filling of the Cup
Prayer After Communion (in unison)
For the bread we have eaten, for the cup we have shared,
for the love we have received, We thank you, God.
Let this act of communion be so important that we remember it always so it can inspire us to grow in our Christian faith and cause us to act as you want us to toward you and each other.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
WE GO FORTH IN JOY
