LIFE AND WORK OF THE CONGREGATION

*INTROIT: This Is The Day (with Sign Choir)

This is the day, this is the day

that our God has made, that our God has made;

we will rejoice, we will rejoice,

and be glad in it, and be glad in it.

This is the day that our God has made,

we will rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day, this is the day

that our God has made.

*CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive):

People of God, look about creation and see the faces of those we know and love - neighbours and friends, brothers and sisters - a communion of kindred hearts.

People of God, look about and see the faces of those we hardly know - strangers, sojourners, forgotten friends, the ones who need an outstretched hand.

People of God, look about and see all the images of God assembled here today. In me, in you, in each of us everywhere, God's Spirit shines for all to see!

People of God, come, let us worship together.

OPENING PRAYER (in unison):

You who have created us and who sustains us: We come with thanksgiving for these moments when we can ease the pace of our lives and listen for your voice. Create a spirit within us that truly draws us toward you and toward our brothers and sisters: a spirit deep, perceptive, gentle, and bold. Clear our minds, open our hearts, and touch us with your presence and your power. We offer this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ our friend and our Saviour. Amen.

* HYMN: What A Friend We Have In Jesus #664

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (in unison):

Dear God, Creator of the heavens and Maker of each small thing: what a wondrous universe you have spread before us. Each day overflows with the richness of life: with growing green and bursting blossoms, with relationships which nurture and challenge, with missions accomplished and justice to be done. Each day is full of your meaning. And yet many times we do not see this. With much around us to be done, we complain of boredom. Or we are so busy we lose track of your presence and calling. Too often we scurry to and fro without appreciation, delight, or much sense of purpose. Call us, O God, out of emotional poverty into the richness of life lived in love. Move us toward you and one another. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

We are the precious people of Christ.

We carry with us the special promise of God that we are loved.

Each day is new.

The future is open.

Let us bring free and joyful hearts before God.
